The museum plan has been postponing for long time, finally we made a time to visit the place. Even though we have limited time, we tried to cover all the places of the museums.

Firstly we visited the Contemporary art gallery, where all the noted paintings show cased and it is interested to take a every note of the famous painter and also glanced on the different type of paintings available through the world.
Main attraction is large paintings of Generals and Raja Ravi Varma's paintings.
Then we visited the Children's museum, where the different attires of people from different parts of the world has showcases and also the main attraction is about the Origami history.
Later we visited the Bronze Gallery, where showcased the excavated bronze idols has been placed for visitors gallery.
The last but not least is the Zoology and Rock Cravings. In the zoology section, there were different animals has been showcased for the kids and later the rock cravings.

The proposal for a Museum in Madras was mooted by the Madras Literary Society in 1846 AD and Sir Henry Pottinger, the then Governor, obtained the sanction of the Court of Directors of the East India Company in London.
In January 1851 AD, Dr. Edward Balfour, Medical Officer of the Governor's Body guard was appointed as the First Officer in charge of the Government Museum. The notification in the Fort St. George Gazetteer dated 29th April 1851 AD contained the first announcement regarding the opening of the Madras Government Museum. The Government Museum otherwise called as the Central Museum was started in the College of Fort St. George, in the premises of the present Office of the Director of Public Instruction, on College Road.
In December 1854 AD, it was shifted to a building named the Pantheon, also known as the Public Rooms or Assembly Rooms, where the elite of the city met.
